Oakland Education Association Hosts Palestine Teach-In For Oakland Teachers
Oakland Educators for Palestine will host a “teach-in for a Free Palestine” on January 16th for members of the Oakland Education Association. The teach-in is being held at the Oakland Education Association office.
Unlike the teach-ins planned for January 19th in NYC and Philadelphia, this teach-in is not for students and is instead for teachers within the OEA, although childcare is available during the teach-in.
The point of the teach-in is to understand:
the issue of the colonization and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians
Our role as Oakland Teachers to teach about Palestine, to defend our students in the struggle, and to protect our communities from the intimation of outside groups (emphasis added)
and to
Organize to Divest our pensions from the war machine
The teach-in will also “look at the District’s ongoing attempts to repress Palestinian solidarity.”
Last month, the Oakland Education Association adopted a resolution to cut ties with the Anti-Defamation League (ADL).
While the OEA For Palestine group accuse the district of “attempts to repress Palestinian solidarity”, the California Department of Education found that the District had “contributed to a discriminatory environment for Jewish students and staff.”
OUSD has said that it will require a “Professional development series titled “Building Belonging, Bridging” featuring a session regarding addressing antisemitism for District staff provided by the Jewish Community Resource Council.”
With the resolution to cut ties with the ADL, and this latest teach-in which accuses Israel of “colonization” and “ethnic cleansing” and which accuses the District of repressing “Palestinian solidarity” to be held at the OEA headquarters, the Oakland Education Association appears unwilling to play ball with the District’s attempts to assuage the CDE’s concerns.
The Islamification of western society using 'Palestine' as a vehicle really is like a malignant cancer always trying to find a purchase. It's goal is to metastasize and relies on the education of children and young adults to be sympathetic. Why westerners don't grasp how countries with Muslim populations deal with this cancer is a mystery to me. The only tactic that seems to work over time is official institutional intolerance. That's why 'Palestinian' neighbours states will not tolerate any of the 'Palestinian' groups claiming to represent them with the notable exception of Qatar and its open chequing account for the Brotherhood and all its tentacles. These states understand the malignancy of political Islam and its terminal danger; we in the west presume to know better. Far too many of us are so open minded and dedicated to the west's demise in the name of tolerance at all costs that our brains have fallen out and we are susceptible to this very intentional infection, ready to excuse and rationalize the sustained ideological attack and prove our allied loyalty in order to feel good, to feel we are virtuous, to feel we are on the right side of history. And so our education system is ripe for capture. Thank you for trying to stand against this invasion by revealing its scope and means. We are all in danger.
